Overview

A Pool Guard, also known as a lifeguard or pool attendant, is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of swimmers at pools, water parks, or aquatic facilities. They play a crucial role in preventing accidents, enforcing rules, and responding to emergencies to maintain a safe aquatic environment.


Duties

Surveillance and Monitoring:
  • Conduct continuous surveillance of pool area to prevent accidents and ensure patron safety.
  • Monitor swimmers and activities in and around the pool to identify potential risks or hazards.
  • Remain vigilant at all times and respond promptly to any signs of distress or danger.
Enforcement of Safety Rules:
  • Enforce pool rules and regulations to maintain a safe and orderly environment.
  • Communicate and enforce safety guidelines, such as no running or diving in designated areas.
  • Educate patrons about water safety and proper pool behavior.
Emergency Response:
  • Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies, such as drowning incidents or medical emergencies.
  • Perform water rescues and provide first aid or CPR as needed.
  • Coordinate with emergency services and other staff members to ensure a prompt and efficient response.
Maintenance and Cleanliness:
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure the cleanliness and functionality of the pool area.
  • Clean and sanitize pool decks, restrooms, and other facilities on a regular basis.
  • Report any maintenance issues or safety concerns to management immediately.
Patron Assistance and Customer Service:
  • Provide friendly and professional customer service to patrons of all ages.
  • Assist patrons with questions, concerns, or special needs as needed.
  • Create a positive and welcoming atmosphere for all pool guests.

Qualifications:

  • Valid lifeguard certification from a recognized training program.
  • Strong swimming skills and proficiency in water rescue techniques.
  • Current certification in CPR, First Aid, and AED.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
  • Prior experience as a lifeguard or in a related role preferred.
