Overview

The Security Officer plays a critical role in safeguarding the premises, assets, and individuals within a designated area or facility. They are responsible for maintaining a secure environment by monitoring surveillance equipment, patrolling the premises, and responding to security incidents to ensure the safety and security of personnel and property.


Duties

Surveillance and Monitoring:
  • Monitor surveillance cameras, alarm systems, and access control systems to detect and prevent unauthorized entry or suspicious activities.
  • Conduct regular patrols of the premises to visually inspect for any security breaches or safety hazards.
Access Control:
  • Control and monitor access to the premises, verifying credentials and authorizing entry for authorized personnel, visitors, or vehicles.
  • Enforce security protocols and procedures to maintain the integrity of restricted areas and ensure compliance with security policies.
Emergency Response:
  • Respond promptly to security incidents, emergencies, or alarms, taking appropriate action to mitigate risks and maintain order.
  • Coordinate with emergency services and law enforcement agencies as needed to address security threats or incidents.
Report Writing and Documentation:
  • Prepare detailed incident reports documenting security breaches, disturbances, or unusual activities observed during patrols or surveillance.
  • Maintain accurate records of security-related activities, including shift logs, incident reports, and access control logs.
Customer Service and Assistance:
  • Provide assistance and support to employees, visitors, and clients by addressing inquiries, providing directions, and offering assistance as needed.
  • Maintain a professional and approachable demeanor while representing the security team and promoting a positive and secure environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certification in security or law enforcement preferred.
  • Proven experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field, with knowledge of security procedures and practices.
  • Strong observation and surveillance skills, with the ability to remain vigilant and alert during patrols and monitoring activities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to stand, walk, or patrol for extended periods, as well as the capability to respond quickly to emergencies or security threats.

The Security Officer position requires a dedicated and vigilant individual who can effectively maintain security protocols, respond to incidents, and ensure the safety and protection of personnel and property within the assigned area or facility.
