Overview

Duties

Surveillance and Supervision:

  • They maintain a vigilant presence, scanning the pool and its vicinity to ensure the safety and well-being of patrons at all times.
Enforcement of Safety Rules:
  • Pool guards enforce pool rules and regulations, such as no diving in shallow areas, no running on wet surfaces, and no rough play.
  • They communicate and enforce facility policies related to swim attire, use of flotation devices, and age restrictions for certain areas or activities.
Assistance and Patron Support:
  • Pool guards provide assistance and support to patrons, including answering questions, providing directions, and offering basic first aid or CPR if needed.
  • They may offer guidance on swimming techniques, water safety practices, and proper use of pool equipment or amenities.
Emergency Response:
  • In the event of an emergency, such as a drowning, injury, or medical incident, pool guards respond quickly and decisively to provide assistance and initiate appropriate rescue procedures.
  • They perform water rescues, administer first aid, and coordinate with emergency services if necessary, while maintaining a calm and composed demeanor.

Qualifications:

  • Possession of a valid lifeguard certification
  • Strong swimming skills and the ability to demonstrate proficiency in various strokes, diving, and treading water.
  • Excellent physical fitness and endurance to perform duties that may include prolonged periods of standing, swimming, and performing water rescues.
  • Understanding of water safety principles, including the recognition of potential hazards, safe swimming practices, and methods for preventing accidents and injuries.
