Overview

The Plumber is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. They play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient distribution of water and the proper disposal of waste through pipes, fixtures, and fittings.


Duties

Installation and Repair:
  • Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems, including pipes, fixtures, fittings, and appliances such as sinks, toilets, showers, and water heaters.
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, or specifications to determine the layout and configuration of plumbing systems in new construction or renovation projects.
Pipefitting and Assembly:
  • Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes using hand or power tools to fit specific dimensions and layouts.
  • Assemble and install pipes, fittings, valves, and fixtures, ensuring proper alignment, sealing, and connection to meet plumbing code requirements.
Troubleshooting and Diagnostics:
  • Identify and diagnose plumbing problems such as leaks, clogs, or malfunctioning fixtures, using diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Implement effective solutions to repair or replace damaged components and restore proper functionality to plumbing systems.
Maintenance and Inspection:
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning, flushing, or lubricating plumbing fixtures and equipment to prevent corrosion, buildup, or malfunctions.
  • Conduct inspections of plumbing systems to identify potential issues, assess their condition, and recommend preventive measures or repairs as needed.
Compliance and Safety:
  • Adhere to plumbing codes, regulations, and industry standards to ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental requirements.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow established safety protocols during all phases of plumbing work to prevent accidents, injuries, and property damage.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or apprenticeship in plumbing preferred.
  • Valid plumber's license or certification as required by state or local regulations.
  • Proven experience as a plumber or plumbing apprentice, with proficiency in pipefitting, installation, and repair techniques.
  • Knowledge of plumbing codes, regulations, and best practices related to residential, commercial, or industrial plumbing systems.
  • Physical strength and stamina to perform manual labor, work in confined spaces, and lift heavy objects.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities to diagnose and resolve plumbing issues effectively.

The Plumber position requires a skilled and experienced individual who can effectively install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems, ensure compliance with regulations, and deliver high-quality plumbing services to customers in various settings.
