Overview

The General Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the overall functionality, safety, and appearance of buildings, facilities, and equipment. They perform a variety of maintenance tasks, addressing both routine upkeep and emergency repairs to maintain property standards and meet the needs of occupants or clients.


Duties

Building Maintenance and Repair:
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC repairs.
  • Address minor repairs and maintenance issues promptly to prevent escalation and minimize downtime.
Equipment and Appliance Maintenance:
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair equipment, machinery, and appliances as needed.
  • Conduct regular checks to ensure proper functioning and efficiency of equipment, making adjustments or replacements as necessary.
Safety and Compliance:
  • Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols and regulations.
  • Identify and address potential safety hazards or code violations, implementing corrective measures to mitigate risks.
Facility Upkeep and Cleaning:
  • Perform routine cleaning and janitorial duties to maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards.
  • Ensure proper disposal of waste and hazardous materials according to regulatory guidelines.
Documentation and Reporting:
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs performed, and materials used.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to management on maintenance status, issues encountered, and recommendations for improvement.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in a relevant trade preferred.
  • Proven experience in maintenance, repair, or construction, with proficiency in various trades such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols, building codes, and regulations governing maintenance and repairs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
