Overview

A Dishwasher is responsible for ensuring cleanliness and sanitation of dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment in a restaurant, cafeteria, or food service establishment. They play an essential role in maintaining a hygienic environment and supporting efficient kitchen operations.


Duties

# Dishwashing Operations:

  • Operate industrial dishwashing equipment to effectively clean dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
  • Ensure that all items are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized according to food safety standards.
  • Manage the flow of dirty and clean dishes to maintain an organized and efficient dishwashing area.

# Equipment Maintenance:

  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of dishwashing equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or issues to management for prompt resolution.
  • Assist with minor repairs or adjustments as needed to keep equipment running smoothly.

# Utensil Sorting and Storing:

  • Sort and organize cleaned utensils and kitchenware for proper storage.
  • Ensure that all items are stored in designated areas and are readily accessible for kitchen staff.
  • Maintain inventory of kitchen supplies and communicate any shortages to management.

# Kitchen Assistance:

  • Provide assistance to kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks during peak periods.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of tasks and maintain a smooth workflow.
  • Support kitchen cleanliness efforts by clearing and cleaning workstations and equipment as needed.

# Safety and Sanitation:

  • Adhere to strict safety and sanitation protocols to maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen environment.
  • Follow proper handling and storage procedures for cleaning chemicals and hazardous materials.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and practice safe work habits at all times.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a dishwashing or kitchen support role preferred.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
